Every year, the list of the nation’s most stolen cars is released, annually reaffirming that thieves have a penchant for Honda Accords, Civics, and Ford F-150s.
On October 28, this 2015 Lamborghini Aventador roadster was stolen from the streets of New York City, and now the vehicle’s owner has enlisted the help of the legendary Pinkerton detective agency to help locate the car, which retails for around $442,000 brand new.
In a press release, the Pinkerton agency announced it has offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the Aventador’s safe return, and the group noted the vehicle was last seen near Fowler Road and College Point Boulevard in Flushing, Queens, New York.
As you might expect, driving a rare, distinctive, and stolen Italian supercar on U.S. roads would generate quite some attention. That’s why the Pinkerton agency, in a press release, announced it believes the stolen Lamborghini Aventador has been prepared to be shipped overseas, but is likely still within the New York City area. A later update revealed the theft to be tied to individuals in Atlanta, Georgia.
First debuted in 2011, the Aventador is Lamborghini’s flagship performance car, which houses a 6.5-liter V12, capable of producing over 691 horsepower, dashing to 60 mph in under three seconds, and clocking a top speed of over 217 mph.
