The boldest, the baddest, the most bats#!t crazy cars of the year have been narrowed down. Though plenty contenders made their way to the final round of our 2015 Bold Ride of the Year awards, only three can be chosen as finalists. The trio will be voted on by you the reader, with some help from our panel of judges. Here they are.

Ariel Nomad

Engine: 2.4L 4-Cylinder
Horsepower: 235
0-60: 3.4 Seconds

It takes a certain kind of person to drive the Ariel Atom. Even more specific, a bloke to want a lifted, off-road version of the Atom. The Ariel Nomad is a vehicle that both excites and enthralls us—and we haven’t even spent much time with it, but we know it checks all the right boxes for us.
The beauty of the Nomad, though, is that we don’t need to to see exactly how bold of a vehicle it is. The exposed bodywork and raw, unfiltered performance proves its worth immediately.
Somewhere under that welded steel chassis sits a 2.4-liter Honda K24 engine and 235 horsepower. Plenty enough ponies to get the extremely lightweight body (1,477 lbs) where you need it to go. By our account, that’s likely somewhere muddy.

br-viper-acr

Dodge Viper ACR

Engine: 8.4L V10
Horsepower: 645
0-60: 3.0 Seconds

We’re only a few days out from Halloween, but for some reason, we still check under our beds and in our closets to make sure there’s no Viper ACR lurking. Scary is an understatement.

On a soaking wet Summit Point raceway, we got to experience that fear firsthand. The 645-horsepower 8.4-liter V10 tossed us around like a rag doll. All the while, the massive rear wing and advanced aerodynamics systems did all they could to keep it on the track. At speed, you’d be forgiven to think that it’s traveling haphazardly like Matthew Mcconaughey through space and time.

The Dodge Viper ACR is a step above anything in its class; anything in its neighborhood. Hell, if there’s a universe with anything as insane, we’d be shocked to see it.

br-drakan-spyder

Drakan Spyder

Engine: LS3 V8
Horsepower: 420
0-60: 3.2 Seconds

No windows, no doors—no problem. Track cars like the Ariel Atom and BAC Mono come and go, but no one in their right mind would have imagined a few dudes from California would be building a world class machine like the Drakan Spyder.

It looks like a toy, because it very much is one. There’s a big GM-sourced V8 under the hood that puts out 400 horsepower. Considering its extremely light weight (2,000 lbs), and 0-60 mph time of just 3.2 seconds, we’re surprised someone hasn’t let NASA know its missing a rocket.
