Lamborghini Huracan Gets Rear-Wheel-Drive for Your Drifting Needs

In preparation for the Los Angeles Auto Show, Lamborghini is ditching all-wheel drive from its latest supercar- the Huracan LP580-2. It sends power to two-less wheels and has less power than the LP610-4, but has the potential to be oh, so much more fun!
The Huracan LP580-2 features the same naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 producing (as the name might suggest) 580 horsepower, and 398 pound feet of torque.

 Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Like the AWD model, no manual model is offered, but the numbers of potential manual Lambo buyers are just not enough to justify it.

The LP580-2 makes less than the 602 hp and 413 pound feet of torque from the LP610-4, but it is also 73 pounds lighter than the AWD Huracan. The result is 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph.

 That is 0.2 seconds slower and 3 mph under the LP610-4 figures, but this car is more about letting the back end step out, going into incredible drifts, and destroying rear tires for days.


The new Lambo features staggered 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires and unique steel brake calipers. The LP580-2 sets itself apart with a unique front and rear fascia that arguably gives the Huracan an even more sinister look than before.

Impressively, Lamborghini fought off the itching desire that high-end carmakers have to charge you more for less. While the LP610-4 costs €169,500 ($180,400), the all-new LP580-2 will start at just €150,000 ($160,000). Would you pay more than $20,000 less for a Lambo with RWD and 22 less horsepower?
