Do you have a passion for purple? A vigor for violet? A lust for lilac? If so, there’s a brand new Jeep Wrangler with your name on it—meet the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry

Making its big debut at next week’s LA Auto Show, the special edition Backcountry is said to be Jeep’s winter-themed counterpart to the Wrangler Sahara, on which it’s based. It comes available in five colors, but let’s be honest, the only one worth mentioning is Xtreme Purple—a color only available on Backcountry models.
Consider us “Plum Crazy” for it.

The Backcountry’s seasonal treatments include flashy decals on the 4×4’s front and rear quarter panels, perhaps but not likely reminiscent of ‘90s snow apparel, as well as unique powder-coated bumpers, 17 inch Rubicon wheels in gloss black, and rock rails as standard. Side steps are available as an option, as is a body-colored top (black comes standard).

Inside, things are decidedly less Xtreme. The Backcountry models opt for a sleek black leather interior with Piano Black vent rings, door handles, and grab handles. A nine-speaker Alpine stereo system is included, but the movie soundtracks to Cool Runnings, Snow Day, and Out Cold are not.

The Jeep Wrangler Backcountry isn’t the brand’s only addition to this year’s LA show either. Also on display is the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night, which adds a smattering of gloss black body mods to SRT’s hot rod Jeep. There’s still a 6.4-liter V8 under the hood, and it still punches hard with 475 horsepower on tap.

Like the pairing? Jeep says the Backcountry models will arrive in dealerships later this month, while SRT Night buyers will have to wait until early in 2016.
