They say everything is bigger in Texas…but they ought to see what’s being built over in Flint, Michigan.

Kid Rock recently took a visit to Chevrolet’s Flint assembly plant, where the burly Silverado HD pickup trucks roll off the line, and it’s safe to say he took a liking to one. He chatted with the folks of UAW Local 598, put his personal touches on one Silverado 3500HD, and now that truck sits proudly at the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Hardworking Americans, this one’s for you.

Aptly named the 2016 Silverado 3500HD Kid Rock Concept, Kid Rock describes the concept as being a celebration of freedom and the American worker.

“Visiting the Silverado factory was one of the coolest and most meaningful things I’ve done,” said Kid Rock. “This truck is all about celebrating the people who build it and the freedom it enables.”

As such, Kid Rock’s beefed-up 3500HD concept comes prepared to handle most truck tasks. Up front a 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8 backs up to an Allison six-speed automatic transmission, and puts massive torque to all four corners. The back corners even share a dually axle. All told, that diesel grunt and four-wheel drive unlock a gargantuan 20,000-pound trailer rating.

Then again, the Kid Rock concept isn’t all-work-and-no-play. The Silverado 3500HD totes a chrome face with a Born Free logo, chrome exhaust stacks, 22-inch wheels, leather seats with acid-wash jean inserts, and American flag graphics flowing down its flanks. And just to prove it can tow its fair share, Kid Rock hooked a pair of Gibbs Quadskis (part ATV, part jet ski) on a trailer out back.

It’s a pretty neat setup, just don’t expect to find it at a Chevrolet dealership near you. At least, not with acid-wash jean inserts.
