There is perhaps no better place to be a police officer than Dubai if you have a thing for supercars. The police fleet includes cars like the Lamborghini Aventador, Aston Martin One-77 and Bentley Continental. Now that impressive list also includes a new Porsche 918 Sypder.
Their latest acquisition means that one of the only 918 units of the Porsche 918 Spyder produced will potentially be used to catch bad guys on the streets of Dubai. As appealing as that may seem, chances of this or any of the supercars in the fleet taking to the streets like a scene out of Fast and Furious is pretty slim.
The idea isn’t to have the most crazy expensive police cars in the world for doing any actual police work, but to have them in the fleet as a status symbol. It’s the same reason some wealthy people buy these cars.
According to World Car Fans, you won’t see them streaking down the road chasing perps, but you will see them driving through the most luxurious parts of the city where tourists will be sure to take notice. They’re the ones the fleet is supposed to impress.
