The Cadillac CTS-V Wagon is dead, the end, finito. And that’s a shame. North American buyers looking for V8 power, five-door practicality, and rear-wheel drive will either have to go German … or go SUV.

But that news has only spurred render artists to flex their styluses and mock up wagon versions of the American bruiser’s 2016 replacement. This one comes from Khalil B. of Virtuel Car, and we’ve got to say it looks as ludicrous, icy-cool, and formidable as its predecessor. On which dotted line do we sign?

Here’s the reality. The new 2016 CTS-V will arrive mid-2015 and solely sport a four-door layout: no coupe, no wagon. Rumor milling and speculation continue regarding whether either of those models will appear down the line. It looks doubtful.

In terms of the V wagon, less than 2,000 were sold in the last generation, a minuscule portion of Cadillac’s total haul. The CTS-V coupe? As one can plainly see, it would encroach quite considerably on the new ATS-V.

But honestly none of that matters, because the new V, albeit only a four-door, wallops a massive 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque, surely capable of plastering a permanent ear-to-ear grin on your face.
