A few months ago, we heard rumors that Mitsubishi would be killing its famed Lancer Evolution. Rally, and Fast and the Furious fans became completely downtrodden. Where would they find their cheap AWD monsters? Subaru? I think not. But fret not, loyalists, there is still some hope. Mitsubishi stated there would be one last Evo, and it’s shaping up to be the best of the bunch.
This is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Final Concept, and it’s a beast. It didn’t get a pokey couple horsepower gain like anticipated, but rather a full 183 more horsepower. That means this little 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine is pumping out 473 horsepower to all four wheels. Which is quite frankly, insane.
The car will debut at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon where it will show off its new intake, ECU tune, HKS turbo, upgraded intercooler, custom exhaust, and adjustable suspension.
It’s then finished off with a set of 19-inch Rays forged wheels and a matte black paint job. It’s about as sinister an Evolution can get without having a cape and fangs.
No word on pricing as of yet, but we’re sure it won’t be just a few grand more than a normal Evo.
