Magnus Walker Talks About the History of the Porsche 911 Turbo

The first Porsche 911 Turbo was launched forty years ago, in 1975. And although Porsche is often criticized for not doing enough to change the exterior of its cars through its history, much has changed within the realm that the 911 Turbo inhabits. Through that time, the 911 Turbo has gone through countless updates and evolutions that have drastically changed the character of the car as a whole.

 

While some of these changes have not been well received by Porsche enthusiasts — i.e. lack of a manual — as a whole, the car has been improved year after year. And to illustrate that evolution throughout the 911 Turbo’s history, eGarage teamed up with the one and only Magnus Walker to guide us through that history by bringing together one of the first 911 Turbo’s with the latest 911 Turbo in this awesome short film.



Magnus Walker, in the last few years has surpassed the likes of Seinfeld and Leno when it comes to dealing with vintage Porsche’s, and that knowledge base and gravitas shows in this film. He’s got an encyclopedic knowledge about almost every Porsche ever built. I recently met Magnus, and suffice it to say, he’s an imposing figure. Not only because his vast comprehension of all things Porsche, but also physically  — I’m no slouch at 6’4”.
