What’s the most unlikely segment to plan a new vehicle for? Answer: the gigantic six-wheeled SUV and pickup truck segment. Population: Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6.
That is, however, the exact model that British firm Kahn Design is pursuing on its new project. It’s called the Flying Huntsman 6×6, and, as it’s so perfectly clear, it’s a six-wheeled version of the Land Rover Defender 110.
Granted it’s just a concept, but given that the mighty AMG 6×6 is now out of production, we figure this to be as good a time as any to green light this monstrous Defender.
The hood has been lengthened by 15.7 inches, the rear quarter has gained a massive 31.4 inches in length, and 5.9 inches have been added to its width. Even the windscreen rake and the door lengths have been modified.
The original Mercedes 6×6 was designed for use in the Australian Army. According to Kahn Design, the Flying Huntsman might serve similarly noble roles. The firm is mulling over the idea of building heavily armored versions, both in four- and six-wheeled SUV and pickup variants. Check back this Tuesday, March 3, to see more as the Flying Huntsman debuts in Geneva.
