Rarely an episode of The Dukes of Hazzard passed without Bo and Luke getting into some type of trouble. With their trusty General Lee, those good ‘ol boys must have jumped every dirt mound in Hazzard County. It makes you wonder what they could have done with four-wheel drive.
Scratch that thought, because now the General Lee has it. A massive Dukes fan melded a 1968 Dodge Charger body with the chassis and running gear from a Dodge Durango. It looks particularly mean and it’s only a click away from being yours. It’s up for sale on eBay.
According to the seller’s listing, the wild creation came together after the original owner saw the episode ‘Arrest Jesse Duke’, in which the Duke boys turn the General Lee into a high-riding off-roader in order to chase down car-part capers in Jeeps. Turn anything into a four-by-four and it gets cooler, but give the General Lee another driven axle and it becomes ice cold.
The owner then set about finding a Charger body (minus the floor) and grafted it to a 2000 Durango. As such, everything behind the scenes is standard Durango: 4.7-liter engine, automatic gearbox, suspension, and dashboard. And just to make it that much more official, the seller notes that it has been autographed by the stars of the show. A compound bow with fake dynamite arrows, also signed by Tom Wopat and John Schneider, is part of the deal too.
It certainly isn’t the only odd remake of the General Lee. We found this Reliant Rialto General Lee kicking around in the UK last week. This one is arguably a bit more functional than its three-wheeled British cousin, though. Onto the big question: does it have the Dixie horn? Yes, yes it does.
