BOLD RIDE
The wait is nearly over—the highly-anticipated Acura NSX supercar hits showrooms early in 2016. But before this hybrid supercar takes to the streets, Acura wants to tease us with some official power figures; 573 horsepower, and a 191-mph top speed.
Acura admits that they haven’t actually topped this thing out yet, but early estimates suggest that the NSX will hit somewhere near 191 mph. No mpg figures have been given yet either.
One of the most impressive aspects is the new NSX is its weight. At 3,803 pounds, it’s relatively heavy in comparison to other supercars. The McLaren 650S, for example, tips the scales at just 3,148 pounds. But unlike the McLaren, the NSX is carrying around three electric motors and a lithium ion battery pack. These motors improve off-the-line torque (476 lb-ft) and efficiency, while only adding an extra 600+ pounds. The extra torque will be put to good use thanks to Acura’s Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system.
Acura hasn’t given any official price figures just yet, but we expect the new NSX to share a similar price point to cars like the McLaren 650S and Ferrari 488 GTB.
