Space-Themed McLaren 650S is an Astronomer’s Dream

How many times have you heard someone describe a car to accelerate “like a rocket ship”? Typically it’s a term reserved for some top-end supercar racing to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds. One car that would certainly qualify is a McLaren 650S.

 

One owner took the term “rocket ship” all too literally with his space-themed McLaren. Done up by California-based custom shop Impressive Wrap, this one-of-a-kind 650S spaceship would be enough to make Neil deGrasse Tyson blush, complete with an astronomy-themed pink and blue star wrap.

But it’s not all show and no go. The McLaren 650S pumps out 641 horsepower from a 3.8-liter turbocharged V8. That’s enough to shoot this supercar into orbit at 207 mph. Just make sure to wear your space suit.

 

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a space-themed car before though. Remember the out-of-this-world Gallardo we featured a few years back? Now we need to get the two together and have ourselves a good ol’ fashion rocket ship race.
