The Ariel Atom is one of the most frantic, psychotic, and downright unique machines in the automotive realm. But Ariel has another vehicle in its arsenal, called the Nomad, and it is one that will resonate more with the off-road crowd.

Built using a similar chassis and engine architecture as the Atom, the Nomad is the Atom’s off-roading psychopath brother. It has enough suspension articulation to bash your way through a rally course, and offers the same raw, guttural experience as the Atom does on street. However, until now, the Nomad was only able to be bought with the base Atom engine. That however has now changed.

The upcoming Ariel Nomad will now be offered with the same Honda K24 Supercharged race engine, which develops 290 horsepower, and 251lb-ft of torque. Ariel’s base engine Nomad was able to get to 60 miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds, imagine what an extra 55 horsepower and 30lb-ft of torque will do. Especially since the Nomad weighs only 1,477 pounds.

The additional horsepower however, will bump up the Nomad’s price by almost $9,000. Yet, considering most supercars won’t be able to touch this car either on the street or the dirt, we feel that $9,000 is money well spent.

The Ariel Nomad will go on sale through U.S. distributors such as Sector 111 around January of this upcoming year, and we hopefully will be able to give you our first impressions of the manic off-roader very soon.
