The Ferrari FF is a car of “firsts” for the Italian supercar maker. For one, it is the first production hatchback from Ferrari. It is also the first car from the “Prancing Horse” brand to feature all-wheel drive. Just imagine if they took things one step further and turned the FF into a full-fledged off-road machine.

The concept you see below is the creation of Rain Prisk Designs, who has rolled out some seriously cool concepts in the past, including hatchback/wagon versions and pickup truck versions of some of our favorite sports cars. The most recent creation is this lifted, trail-ready Ferrari FF.

In an era where Bentley, Jaguar, and perhaps even Lamborghini are joining in the SUV race and traditionally siloed automakers are breaking into new vehicle markets, Ferrari has been conspicuously grounded to its supercar and grand tourer roots. Ferrari has said time and again that it would not produce an SUV, and that the closest we’d get to that was the all-wheel drive FF shooting brake.

So why not take things one step further like in this concept image. The FF already has its fire-breathing V12 and unique all-wheel drive system. That could be complemented by a raised ride height, knobby all-terrain tires, and beefed up bumpers. There is even a winch, roof racks for your weekend toys, and quite possibly rock sliders between the front and rear wheels.

It reminds us of a Local Motors Rally Fighter, which is a very good thing. Our take is that Ferrari NEEDS to build this, and build it now!
