The Infamous “Duck Hunt” Nissan GT-R Needs a New Roost

Nissan goes to great lengths to ensure its GT-R super coupe is…for lack of a better word, perfect. Each engine is hand-built at a constant temperature within a hermetically sealed factory. A truly obsessive attention to detail. 

 

That said, somehow Nissan probably never imagined one of its masterstrokes would ever look quite like this. Meet the “Duck Hunt” GT-R.

The 2012 Nissan wears an electric blue vinyl wrap featuring characters from the Nintendo videogame Duck Hunt and was created by Los Angeles custom car shop RBD LA in the run-up to the 2015 goldRush Rally. Understandably, the Duck Hunt GT-R became a crowd favorite over the nine day supercar rally, nevertheless now it’s listed for sale online.

And it certainly has enough modifications under the skin to complement the outrageous graphics. According to its owner, the GT-R was built and tuned by COBB Tuning SoCal along with the GT-R specialists at SP Engineering. The engine now boasts new pistons, rods, camshafts, fuel injectors, and a reworked head, which complement two new turbochargers, a clutch and transmission update, intercooler, fuel pump, and full exhaust system.

All things added up, the Duck Hunt GT-R V6 puts out a sizable 884 horsepower and 827 lb.-ft. of torque to 20-inch Rays Volk Racing G12 wheels, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Big on visual impact and apparently big on performance as well.
So what does one do with a videogame-styled supercar? Perhaps music producer Deadmau5, owner of the infamous “Purrari” Nyan Cat Ferrari 458 has a suggestion.
