In 2001, the world was introduced to the movie The Fast and the Furious. I remember as a young teen going to see the movie in theaters and being blown away. The series had an indelible mark on my path to become a gearhead and undoubtedly a similar mark on countless others.

That first movie has now spawned seven sequels, another in the works, and has made well over $2 billion dollars at the box office. The latest movie, Furious 7 is now #5 on the highest grossing films of all time. Much of that success though, is attributed to the bright orange Supra the Paul Walker drove in the first movie.

Without that Supra at the end of the movie racing Dominic’s Charger, I doubt the movie would have been much of a hit. The last drag scene has become iconic in the world of automotive film. Recently, that iconic Supra went up for auction and sold for a ridiculous sum of money.

Even though this car was never driven by the late Paul Walker (used mostly as a stunt car), it still crossed the block at $185,000. Since the actors’ tragic death, his cars or cars associated with him have jumped in price tremendously. But does the somewhat tenuous link between the car and Walker really make this car worth that much? We’re not sure.
