During the first quarter of 2016, Rolls-Royce will launch a new car. Well, sort of new. It will be called the Dawn, and even though Rolls-Royce isn’t officially saying so, it’s going to be a convertible version of the Wraith. Instead of just giving it a straight-forward name like the Phantom Drophead Coupé, Rolls-Royce is reviving a name previously used back in the ’50s.

Between 1950 and 1954, 28 Silver Dawn drophead models were built, the first cars from Rolls-Royce with factory-built bodies. The specially built Silver Dawns (seen in the photos) are now one of the most rare Rolls-Royces ever created. Now it’s coming back.

“Our new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date,” said Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, Chief Executive Officer. “Dawn is a beautiful new open-top motor car with a name that suggests the fresh opportunities that every new day holds – an awakening, an opening up of one’s senses and a burst of sunshine. It will be the most social of super-luxury motor cars for those beautiful people who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world’s social hotspots.”

Ah, yes, beautiful people in beautiful cars driving around beautiful places. Kind of sounds like the elegant life of a car blogger. That is, if you replace all that with regular-looking people, average used cars, and parking garages.
