Finally, a race team other than Audi was in the winner’s circle this past Sunday at Le Mans. For the first time since 1998, Porsche found themselves taking home the 24 hour trophy, and in celebration, left fans with something to be excited about.

On Porsche’s Facebook page, they tossed up an image with the caption “Future,” and a sheet covering something that will be a “Future Sportscar.” Whether this future sports car is actually ready or not is to be debated, but there are some rumors.

The first of which being that this is the Ferrari-fighting Porsche true enthusiasts have been looking forward to. Slotted above the 911 Turbo, the German rival could take the fight to the Ferrari 488 and McLaren 650S. Likely a mid-engined, rear-wheel drive coupe arriving sometime in 2017.

Another option could be a more hardcore 918 to take on the P1 GTR and Aston Martin Vulcan. Though, truth be told, it’s the lesser likely of the two. Either way, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for anything that resembles a new Porsche in the next few months.
