Back in 1995, when McLaren was still building the now iconic F1, the British marque made its debut at the world famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. The McLaren F1 GTRs swept the race in 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 13th overall. The impressive performance solidified McLaren’s road-race program in the hearts and minds of all auto enthusiasts. Twenty years later, McLaren is still building amazing racing machines.

That single event in the company’s fairly extensive racing history is so important, so drastically engrained in the company’s mindset, that McLaren built an homage to those Le Mans-winning F1 models with the 650S Le Mans Edition. For the car, McLaren sought the help of the F1 designer Peter Stevens and built this absolutely gorgeous 650S iteration you see above and below.

The Le Mans Edition features styling cues found on those old F1 GTR race cars like the one off rims or the roof scoop. Countless other small details give this 650S a distinct presence. McLaren only built 50 to ensure their exclusivity, and by the time that the car was announced to the public, every single one had been sold. However, thanks to Alastair Bols, a McLaren dealer in the UK, you now have the chance to own one of these special cars.

The car has had only one owner, which is frankly a given because it’s only been out for a few months now. It has done only 115 miles total in that time and is absolutely perfect. The price tag on this one-of-a-kind McLaren? It’s not cheap at $468,222, a markup of about $80,000 from its original $380,000 it began at. So it’s a good investment as well as a brain-melting supercar.
