Sometimes the bad guys get to drive fancy cars, while the police are stuck with the same old police car. The police in Dubai have stepped up their game with a fleet of police supercars, and now Australia has joined them with a Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE four-door coupe.
It’s powered by a twin-turbo 5.5-liter gas V8 engine and will be with the Victoria Police for the next year. It has a top speed of 173 mph so if you’ve got plans for a major heist in Victoria, then you might want to put them on temporary hold. The car is on loan to the police for only 12 months.
They’re calling it The Guardian, because a car like this needs a nickname. According to DailyMail, the police currently drive Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores and are looking at new replacement cars. Loaning this for a year is a pretty good way to get the boys in blue to consider Mercedes-Benz for their new fleet.
