Kevin Harvick Won Yesterday’s NASCAR Race By Just 4 Inches
There are close finishes, and then there are finishes that are so close you can’t believe they’re real. That was the case with a recent NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway. The winner came down to all of four inches.
Its started with a day that saw five caution flags due to excessive brake heat melting the tire bead. The final caution was during lap 305 when Kasey Kahne wrecked. This left Kevin Harvick in the lead, but with the same tires when others opted to pit out and swap for fresh tires.
Carl Edwards was one of the drivers who picked up a fresh set of rubber, and it came down to him and Harvick in the final laps. They bumped each other three times and the finish was so close that announcers couldn’t call it immediately.
The win eventually went to Harvick who won by only .10 seconds, which is about four inches. It was the closest race finish ever in Phoneix and beat out the crazy Daytona finish by .001 seconds. It was a photo finish if ever there was one.
