BOLD RIDE
Though most parts of the country never really felt the icy grasp of winter for more than a week at a time, there’s still cause for excitement as spring draws near. Especially for Mopar loyalists, many of whom were undoubtedly keeping a close eye on coverage from Spring Festival in Irvine this past weekend.
Dodge unveiled a modernized version of the iconic Go Mango exterior paint that is new for Spring ‘16, and offered exclusively on SRT vehicles. The color was most recently available on the under (whelming?,appreciated?) Dodge Dart, and prior to that made an appearance on specific Charger R/T Daytona models in 2006, after it first appeared on the 1970 Challenger.
For those folks who felt the SRT 392 and SRT Hellcat Chargers and Challengers just didn’t attract enough attention in “Plum Crazy” purple, Sublime green or B5 Blue, this the return of Go Mango is welcome news. Anyone can stroll into a Dodge dealer as of today and order up a car coated in an eye searing blend of orange and red tones that appear to have been borrowed from Venus’ atmosphere.
“Powerful performance cars like our Dodge Charger and Challenger demand high-impact colors,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America. “Dodge muscle cars have a long history of unique paint colors with iconic names, and we’ll continue to reach back into our paint code archive to give our enthusiast customers what they want.”
Sounds good Tim, but can we get a Grand Caravan R/T in “Go Mango”? Would save the hassle of getting aftermarket paint job before airbrushing a wizard fighting a dragon on the side.
