Now You Can Have Your Track-Slaying Camaro ZL1 Without a Roof

640 horsepower is a lot of ponies. A 6.2-liter supercharged V8 is a mean engine. So why in the world would you want to confine yourself and your car to a life with a roof? Thankfully, you don’t have to with the introduction of the Camaro ZL1 convertible.

Like its closed-top sibling, the Zl1 Convertible strutted its stuff at the New York Auto Show earlier today. It uses the same engine and wields the same amount of horsepower, but the thing the truly separates it from the pack of powerful muscle is the lack of a roof, obviously.

Chevrolet has’t said how much of a change the convertible version will signify over the coupe, or any particular performance figures (0-60, top speed, etc.). But they do assure us that it was “designed to excel at everything,” and will indeed be “rigid,” because nobody wants a big, floppy, 640-horsepower muscle car.
Whatever the case, it’s fast and it looks pretty—and that’s all the really matters in life. Catch it on display at the New York Auto Show throughout the week.
