Talk of the new Mercedes-Benz pickup has been circulating for months. It looks like we’ll get our first look at what they have planned at the Paris Motor Show in October. Sorry, you still have six months to hold your horses.
The 4×4 they will show in Paris won’t be the finished product, but a concept vehicle. This means you’ll have to wait even longer to get your hands on a production version of the X-Class with those in Germany and left-hand markets getting first dibs. The UK might not get their chance until 2018.
The real thing is months away, but the official sketch shows a very Mercedes-ish truck. There’s the familiar three-bar grille, and curvy wings that are reminiscent of Mercedes SUVs. The double-cab design is a sure thing, but a single cab hasn’t been ruled out.
According to AutoExpress, it will share much of the Nissan Navara’s platform. That features a 2.3-liter diesel, but the Mercedes will likely have 4- and 6-cylinder gas and diesel engines with both manual and automatic variants. There’s even talk of a hybrid, but we won’t know for sure until it finally makes its debut.
