If the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 could feel the sensation of a cold chill running up their spines—err, carbon fiber chassis—consider this to be it.

Aston Martin has announced it has teamed up with the Red Bull Racing F1 team to create a next-generation hypercar, codename “AM-RB 001.” The technical partnership forms a meeting of the minds, if you will, uniting Red Bull chief technical officer Adrian Newey and Aston Martin chief creative officer Marek Reichman to quarterback the project.

In the process, Aston Martin will net what is described as the “ultimate hypercar,” and taps Red Bull’s vast aerodynamics and composite resources. Red Bull on the other hand adds some serious brand cachet, as both of its 2016 F1 cars will wear Aston Martin wings this season, beginning with this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix. It sounds like a match made in heaven.

So will it work?

Well, the recipe certainly looks right.

In addition to the vast Red Bull Racing technical braintrust, Adrian Newey is widely considered to be the greatest Formula One engineer of all time. His designs have led to ten championship-winning F1 cars, four of which dominated consecutively from 2010 to 2014. He’s also hinted that it has been a lifelong passion of his to design a road car, which he finally can now fully realize.

Marek Reichman also has an incredible CV, he’s been responsible for every sleek looking Aston Martin since 2005, including the rarified One-77 and most recently the all-new 2017 Aston Martin DB11 and Vulcan track car.

“Unconstrained by F1 regulations, we have a unique chance to create a car in its most efficient form that will represent the ultimate fusion of art and technology,” says Reichman.

Technical specifications are still likely far from concrete, however the UK’s AutoExpress suggests the hypercar will marry Aston Martin’s brand new V12 with an F1-style hybrid system. Less than 100 cars are alleged to be built, all for around £2 million a pop ($2.9 million at today’s rates). Need one? The first official glimpse is said to be a few months away.
