BOLD RIDE
For a lover of all things auto, there is a distinct level of sadness that comes from selling-off a prized car. As Jeremy Clarkson’s Twitter would suggest, he has once again reacquainted himself with the feeling.
Clarkson recently tweeted that he sold his coveted 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series. As many Top Gear fans will remember, Jeremy Clarkson blasted a CLK 63 through the Black Mountains of Wales in a rather memorable test drive segment. Richard Hammond was hilariously less comforting of Clarkson on Twitter though, writing “it’ll be a sadder day for the poor bugger who bought it.”
Considering all that the CLK 63 Black Series offered, there’s much to ache for. AMG designed the car to evoke the likeness of the contemporary Formula 1 Mercedes safety car, and as such it received flared wheel arches, massive AMG brake discs, and a pumped-up drivetrain to handle the AMG 6.2-liter V8 lurking under the hood. A prod of the pedal unleashed 507 horsepower in a car that Clarkson once called “weapons grade.”
He further elaborated on the Mercedes in a Sunday Times article and wrote, “It is note a joke. Like everything to come out of the Fatherland since it was formed in 1871, it is utterly and deadly serious.”So long CLK.
