Ford has officially confirmed that the Mustang Shelby GT350 will boast 526 horsepower with 429 lb-ft of torque. This all comes from a new 5.2-liter flat-plane V8 engine that is the most power-dense and most powerful road-going engine to ever come from Ford.
It works out to 102 horsepower per liter and you’ll only be able to get it in the Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R when they go on sale this fall. I imagine there’s going to be a long line at your local dealership for this one so you might want to get your tent ready to camp out and wait.

Ford’s most powerful naturally aspirated engine ever is also their highest-revving V8 in history. This thing won’t redline until 8,250 RPM. It produces 90 percent of peak torque at around 3,450 RPM through 7,000 RPM with a spread of nearly 3,000 RPM between its torque and horsepower peaks.

Both variants of the Shelby will come only with a 6-speed Tremec TR-3160 manual transmission. It has a lightweight, die-cast aluminium case and clutch housing to increases powertrain stiffness. The gear cross-sections, dual mass flywheel, and dual-disc clutch were given special attention to reduce inertia and weight.
