Could The Jeep “Trailcat” Concept Finally Be a Hellcat Wrangler?

BOLD RIDE

March has rolled around once again, and for Jeep fans, that means it’s time to blaze a trail to Moab, Utah for the annual Easter Jeep Safari—a nine day off-road extravaganza pitting some very tough Jeeps against some truly tough terrain.

As tradition goes, Jeep brings a few concepts to show off and run the trails with, and one of those concepts for this year’s event is setting hearts aflutter. It would of course… with a name like Jeep Wrangler Trailcat.

The above image was released on Thursday, teasing a Jeep Wrangler with “Trailcat” lettering and quite the heavily-vented hood, suggesting that a 707-horsepower Hellcat V8 (à la Charger or Challenger Hellcat) most likely lives beneath. Talk about one powerful trail rig!

It is however just a concept. Whether such a Hellcat-powered Wrangler makes it to the production line is another story; that said, for those who do need one, Pennsylvania’s Hauk Designs will happily stick a Hellcat V8 in a Wrangler for you, allowing you to do some very, very smoky burnouts.

In addition to the “Trailcat,” Jeep also teased a second Easter Jeep Safari concept—the Jeep Crew Chief. Judging by its angular styling, it looks to be a revisit to last year’s Jeep Chief concept, which was based on the modern Wrangler but romanced the full-sized Jeep Cherokee SJ of the 1970s and early ‘80s.

Either way, this year’s 50th annual Easter Jeep Safari is shaping up to be one to remember, and Jeep has confirmed it will debut seven concepts in total. Stay tuned for more info as the event inches closer, spanning March 19th to the 27th.
