Lamborghini Gallardo Wades Through San Diego Flood Waters

As you’ve probably heard, California has been getting nailed with a literal deluge of storms care of El Nino. This meteorological phenomenon has actually been responsible for flooding in some streets in Los Angeles and San Diego. One particular Lamborghini owner ain’t got no time for floods.

This particular intersection had become flooded, but it wasn’t about to stop the owner of this white Lamborghini Gallardo from getting through. As you can see from the video below, the driver pulls up to the edge of the flooding, gingerly gets the front wheels wet, and then just goes for it.

Unlike, say, an Amphi-car, which can actually float, the Gallardo’s wedge shape is hardly seaworthy. Notice how every time the driver applies the gas, water rises almost completely over the windshield. And at the 0:27 mark, it appears that when the driver gives it some gas, the Gallardo starts to hydroplane. Not ideal when you’re up to the belt-line in water.

The Gallardo is the predecessor to the current Lamborghini Huracan supercar. The last redesign for the Gallardo came in the 2013 model year. It carried a $202,000 starting price when new. It also featured a glorious 5.2-liter V10 engine making 560 horsepower in base form. It is a glorious engine, and one that we hope the owner of this particular Lambo did not water-log by traversing flood waters.
