Buick Brings the Heat With the 400-HP Avista Sports Coupe Concept

There comes a time in every marque’s timeline that calls for change. For Buick, that change comes in the form of a 400-horsepower, twin-turbo luxury coupe. This is the Avista coupe concept, and it’s probably the sexiest thing we’ve ever seen from the luxury automaker in recent history.

 

You might be asking yourself: “That’s a Buick?!” And you’d be right to be confused. The aggressive body style shows off a new language that’s very much a step in the right direction. A long hood, an angular rear end, and an aggressive profile make the Avista unlike any Buick we’ve ever seen.

While the aggression is obvious upon first glance, lift the hood and you’ll find something the matches those hostile looks. A twin-turbo V6—ripped from the Cadillac ATS-V—churns out 400 horsepower to the rear wheels. The platform is the very same as well, sharing a 110.7-inch wheelbase with the new Camaro.

The interior carries on the aggressive theme with a white and grey leather, and a futuristic dash and instrument cluster combination. The whole package oozes performance luxury, similar to that of its Cadillac cousin.

But per every concept Buick that’s debuted in the past few years, we have to remain skeptical as to whether this will ever find its way out of the Detroit Auto Show, and into the hands of customers. Buick hasn’t said if the Avista will be produced, but it is an embodiment of “the dynamic soul of Buick.” So it’s got that going for it, which is nice.
