The Corvette Z06 came equipped with the Z07 package, and delivers 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque from its 6.2-liter V-8 engine paired with a seven-speed manual.
On the other hand, the Viper ACR pumps out 645 hp and 600 lb-ft from its 8.4-liter V-10 that’s mated to a six-speed manual. The Corvette may be longer and heavier, but the slight advantage in power might make up for it during testing.
Our hosts take both cars to the famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and put race car driver Randy Pobst behind the wheel of each supercar. From his laps, Pobst knows which car he’d choose, but it all comes down to the lap times. Once the times have been recorded, Cammisa and Lieberman hit the streets to give their thoughts on both cars.
Watch the video below to see which American supercar wins this episode of Head 2 Head. Will it be the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with Z07 package or the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR?
